ST. PAUL, Minn (May 16, 2025) – From the cities to the lakes, the Minnesota Historical Society will be honoring Minnesota’s veterans through Memorial Day events at Historic Fort Snelling and Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post.
Memorial Day at the Fort, Historic Fort Snelling, May 26
Special events for this patriotic holiday will take place throughout the day. A flag ceremony, cannon firing, swing band performances, a period speech from World War II, and a performance by the Fife & Drum Corps will all take place between 10 am and 4 pm. Visitors will also be able to witness the firing of historic rifles from five different eras of the fort’s history. Veterans will receive free admission. The Blue Star program provides free admission to active military and their families.
Memorial Day Powwow, Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post, May 26
The Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading post will hold a free powwow to honor veterans. This outdoor event is free to the public. Enjoy the singing, dancing, and honoring events throughout the afternoon.
